“Intuitive” Episode 3-19-2018

StewStraussJoins

Mundee 3-19-2018, Millie and Craig visit the KCHUNG 1630AM Chinatown Studios of Los Angeles, to join CEC in discussing intuition and the cosmos At Large. At the top of the hour, we introduce a few rare Raquel Meller songs. In between philosophizing, we also play a couple “Fun Facts” by Henry D. Horse, a song by Bobbie Deerfield, and a very special guest makes an unexpected appearance.

Craig brings a gift, the new graphic novel by Box Brown about Andy Kaufman, “Is This Guy For Real?” We also talk about the recent Yachtley Crew shows at The Rose, and the Hollywood Cares Poker Tournament at the Avalon, where I was able to meet Ralph Malph aka Donny Most from “Happy Days” and Joe Montegna from Chicago! It was such a fun and satisfying show all around. Captain Nicholas and I look forward to creating another show with Craig and Millie in the KCHUNG Studio again soon!

The fun thing is, while we broadcasted the show on Periscope, Stewart Strauss (one of “The Woodsmen” from Twin Peaks, featured also on the last episode with Blythe Baines and Carter Soso) popped in to check it out!   Which can be viewed here)

The pure audio is archived HERE and available for listening pleasure!

The Woodsmen – 2/5/2018

WoodsmenStairwell

It was a pleasure to engage in such a wonderful conversation with two of “The Woodsmen” from Twin Peaks: The Return, on Inspirado Projecto, Robert Broski and Christian Calloway! Rob plays The Woodsman who delivered the iconic line “Gotta Light”:

BroskiWoodsman

Christian plays The Woodsman who entered a car and exploded a poor man’s brain matter:

CallowayWoodsman

Stewart Strauss, the very first Woodsman ever seen on Twin Peaks: The Return, was unable to join us in person, however, he was definitely with us in spirit, as they both had wonderful stories to share about him:

StraussWoodsman

Jeff Finn, documentary filmmaker of “Strange Septembers” and “Before The End” and fellow PEAKer, also joined us in the KCHUNG Studio to geek out with these crazy cats about their experiences working with David Lynch.

Music from the soundtrack of Twin Peaks: The Return, an original song by Christian Calloway, some news reporting by Stewart,  and “Fun Facts” from Henry D. Horse, were also played. Since we geeked out so much, unfortunately the latest Celebrity Afterlife Report Podcast was not played on this show. We talked about Rob’s background as an Abraham Lincoln impersonator, in addition to Christian’s charity. We also discovered that Christian knew Stewart long before they were both cast as The Woodsmen for Twin Peaks: The Return! Rob was a sport and let me place my Grandpa’s old hat on his head to re-create that amazing scene in Twin Peaks: The Return where he crushed the radio dj’s skull with his bare hands!

The whole shebang was broadcasted LIVE on Periscope which can be seen HERE.

The audio archive is saved on the KCHUNG website for listening pleasure HERE!

Thank you to David Lynch for inventing Twin Peaks and to Jeff, Rob and Christian for coming into the studios to share their wonderful stories!

10-2-2017 Episode: KAABOO

KAABOO-IP
{Mirror photo by Dori. Colourized/texted by CEC.}

This episode happened synchronistically with news of Tom Petty’s passing. Two weeks prior, I had just seen Petty perform for the first time ever, at the KAABOO Festival, for what could have possibly been his last live performance. He was a thrilling energy to be in the midst of. Soo many memories through the decades of hearing his songs on the radio and in music videos showed up all at once. I didn’t realize until seeing him live, just how many hits he’s created, that we’re all familiar with, so many soundtracks for so many moments in our lives. It felt great to hear mobs of music-goers spanning so many generations, all singing along to his melodies, along with my family and friends. This “KAABOO” episode shares the audio of one of Petty’s timeless classics, recorded that monumental night!

Tom Petty at KAABOO Festival 2017

There was an abundance of amazing art, comedians, arcade games, hybrid humanimal creatures, music and performance art happening in various places about KAABOO. If you took photos of some sculptures with your flash, a hidden designs appeared!

In addition to Petty, some notable musicians I got a chance to see, were Jane’s Addiction, Pete Yorn, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Michael McDonald, Muse, Pink, Eric Burdon from The Animals, Fishbone and others (some of which are played during this episode).

In addition to broadcasting audio on Chinatown’s 1630AM KCHUNG Radio, and streaming live on their website, this 10-2 episode also simultaneously motion-pictured itself in a digital visual format through Periscope. Another intriguing synchronicity happened with this episode. I had recently come across Robert Moss, a Shaman who talks about traveling through dreams and also contacting those who have passed. I planned to play his stuff during the broadcast, long before I heard about Tom Petty.  As you know, the Celebrity Afterlife Report Podcast with the Celebrity Medium, is a staple of Inspirado Projecto. The information braided together quite uniquely. As you know we are always enthused to play music/spoken word that is suggested to us through Twitter, our email, on the bus, etc. We played a wonderful collaboration between A.J. and Tara, a cover of a Roy Orbison classic by Katie Shorey (phenomenal singer/songwriter and the frontwoman for Twisted Gypsy the Fleetwood Mac Tribute), an astounding experimental sound collage by one of PQ Ribber‘s many projects: Boys Nitroglycerine Pep Club, information about the upcoming Yachtley Crew show at Borderline Bar & Grill November 3rd, new Fun Facts by our Resident Trivia Expert and Traveler Henry D. Horse, and a wholesome song by the Cactus Blossoms from Twin Peaks: The Return. There are of course, many other surprises as well!

(Alec Smart/Sherman Sitter and Captain Nicholas did an outstanding job steering the KCHUNG Ship across the Galaxywaves, 9-18, in their melodic episode: “Know Your Dragons”  as well as their stream-of-orchestration: “After Thoughts“. A piece of that episode is found in this episode.)

7-10-2017 Oceanic (Rabbits)

Two ideas for this theme are “Oceanic” and “Rabbits.” The latest unique mystery lies in the most recently-discovered ” #runtherabbit ” and ” #outofhandtv “, both of which are imperative as the functioning engine of this sound collage. Yrev very reflective images emerge in various familiar masks during this KCHUNG Radio Hour of Inspirado Projecto.

OceanicIP

Captain Nicholas, master of Sound Engineering, joins CEC in the Audio Co-Pilot Arena. It was also simultaneously recorded LIVE for viewing possibilities on Periscope. We discuss Twin Peaks Season 3 nuggets, release a live audio delicacy of smooth yacht rock sensation “Yachtley Crew” during their first performance at The World Famous Viper Room 6-23-2017,  played a promo for the wonderful Documystery™ (term coined by Jeff Finn) “Strange Septembers,” dug up a rockin’ Sebadoh jam, released a Fun Fact by Henry D. Horse, debuted a spacey fave by Sailors of Neptune, spilled the gossip-beans by The Celebrity Afterlife Report, blasted a mashup betwixt Kurt Schwitters‘ jibberish and Moondog‘s composure “Bird’s Lament”, then introduced a wonderful tribute song by Little Wendy Polland at Andy Kaufman’s Memorial!

We also discuss a yrev very cosmic Lynchian event that occurred. Back in May (a week or so before Twin Peaks Season 3 was released) 2017, I created a fun “AstroCoop” image of Dale Cooper dressed as an Astronaut floating through the Red Room. I was thinking about how he reminded me of David Bowie’s “…ground control to Major Tom…”, with Coop out there fused between dimensions trying to find his way back to Twin Peaks, traversing the curtains like heatwaves on Mars. At that point I had no idea the new season would focus on dopplegangers…

Coopmeme

After watching each part I hop on the interwebs to see what kinds of new revelations have beamed onto Peakers’ antennae. On July 9th, immediately after watching Part 9, I opened up Twitter to see if other folks caught Easter Eggs that flew past me and/or that I might have also caught. On the Twitter feed I found a photograph that VERY YREV MUCH echoed similarities of my AstroCoop! I immediately sent it to Lawrence August and he artistically blended them together side-by-side:

BothAstroCoops

This astounding accidental ‘prophecy’ was a gift all on its own….now to be able to archive it for my Futureself to look back on, as a strong example of how a series of antennae operating on similar broadcast signals can emerge from the stream-of-consciousness with similar fish!

Aunt Nancy

Thank you to my Aunt Nancy, who always encouraged me to draw, bought me art supplies/sketchbooks for Birthdays and Christmases, took such tender care of her gardens and plants, cooked all of those handmade delicious holiday meals, laughed heartily from the belly, smiled perpetually, gave us so much joy on her backyard trampoline/in her swimming pool, threw fun parties in her basement, taught us the benefits of living in a family filled with jokes and pranks (many centered around Easter Peeps), introduced us to Buckwheat Zydeco, and exemplified unrestrained freedom through her many adventures with Uncle Tom, to Texas and beyond.

We love you Aunt Nancy and thank you for all of the memories. RIP.
